Daniel Timothy “Rufus Boone” Lane, 55, of Peoria, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at his home, after a three year battle of small cell cancer of the lung and brain.
He was born in Peoria on September 2, 1955, a son of Russell and Phyllis (Harper) Lane. They preceded him in death, along with his grandparents and stepfather, Don Harmison.
Danny is survived by his step mother, Bernice Lane of Danville; four-legged kid, Cassie Girl; brother, David (Debbie) Lane of Arkansas; sisters, Naomi (William) Lott of Canton and Cherie (Donald Shea) Ramos of Peoria; brother and best friend, Chris “Lou” Lane of Morton; and several nieces and nephews, including his little monkey, Aprel “Ape”, the special little person in his life for thirty-five years.
He last worked in 2007 for Preferred Home Construction and, during the off-season, he long-hauled for a trucking firm in Normal. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Danny had several long-time friends, since grade school, and lots of friends through the years. He loved everyone and loved his pajama parties with Wheezie and Dennis. He will be missed dearly.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held in the spring, because everyone knew he did not like the cold weather.
The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone at Methodist Home Health, Methodist Hospice and all of his doctors.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.
